I was very unhappy with our check in. It too right at an hour because the agents spent time trying help someone OTHER than their customer. My agent kept talking to the customer next to me. I saw 3 and 4 people helping one guy who was having credit card problems. His problem thus became a problem for so many lined up behind us.
Fortunately I checked my car for damage. It had a major dent. This guy was helpful and kept his sense of humor. Hope check-in goes better.
The return process was easy. It was easy to find where to go to return the vehicle. The gentleman said 2 words the entire time to us, and then when I asked who I should give the gas receipt to he said with and attitude "just keep it yourself" even though it clearly states they need to see it upon return. He then scanned 2 things and handed me a receipt and went along his way. (Never explaining if it was returned, if there were any other steps, etc)
So it wasn't a terrible experience, but wasn't the best experience. By far the best price rental car so I would say it was worth it. I would rent from them again.
***EDIT: updated to ONE STAR (I'd give ZERO if I could). Despite jumping through hoops and providing everything requested to Budget (INCLUDING the receipt from their OWN location proving we returned the vehicle on a FULL tank), they are stating we have not provided enough proof and still demanding payment for something we don't owe them. Sounds like a scam to me - save your money, your time and go elsewhere!***
And now the "after" impression... also not good. We had a pre-paid rental, so imagine the surprise when we received an invoice in the mail today. The only thing that appeared off on the invoice was that they charged us nearly FIFTY dollars for a fuel recharge. We in fact returned our call full and have the receipt from the return process confirming the tank was full! Should be an easy fix, however, when we called their customer service they not only want us to send in the receipt proving Budget marked the tank as "full" at return, but also a gas station receipt?!?! If I have the receipt from YOUR company telling me the tank is full, why are you making me do more work to find proof of payment for a receipt I had no reason to hang on to? Seems incredibly shady!
This was my first time renting a car from budget rental and I was more then pleased by their professionalism! Everything went smoothly, from the pickup aspect to the returning aspect. The car was exactly as I requested and was very clean on the inside and outside. No complaints here at all. Some tips I would recommend is to sign up for fast break and complete your profile fully (either by calling customer service or on their website) and to fill the gas tank fully before returning it. It will save you a hefty service fee at the time of return! Will definitely rent from budget again?
This was one of the easiest rental experiences I’ve had. Upon reaching Orlando international airport, picked up our bags, walked over to the budget counter and saw many many people in line. Then, remembered I had a fast break reservation. Walked across the street to the fast-break counter and showed proof of ID. Immediately given a space number and rental agreement and out of the airport. For the car, signed up for a Ford Focus and drove out in a Toyota Avalon. Nice car. From the time I picked up my bags to the time I left the airport was the span of about 15 minutes. Returning the car was just as easy. Within five minutes of returning the car I had my receipt and was on my way to the gate. Nice work budget.
I did not have a huge wait time like all other reviewers did, but we were the only person in line and waited about 15-20 minutes prior to having a car. During check in the gentleman was not personal at all and if felt as though he was trying to rush us through and had a sly way of trying to tack on the "extras" to our prepaid rental car (insurance, gas stuff, etc), so I am sure if I wasn't paying attention or knew ahead of time what they were going to offer then my rents would have increased in price by quite a bit.
The car was great. It was clean, new and worked great the whole trip. It was actually a bigger car than what we had expected, so that was nice.
Our first impression however was awful. It took almost an hour for us to get our rental from the time we got in line. There was a larger line, but at least one of the agents was moving incredibly slow (while another seemed to be processing people quickly). Unfortunately during our turn, we got the slow (not at all personable) agent. It not only took her a long time to process our rental, but in the middle of it she walked away (without explanation) and was gone for at least 5 minutes. Everything else was fine and the return process was fast and we confirmed before leaving the area that we were good to go.
2 stars because the car was clean and in great condition, also felt the price was decent as compared to other options.
