The food was bland and over fried. The mofongo was basic at best and lacked flavor. The wait staff was horribly slow and although freindly... They lack any skill at taking care of the customer. How does a restaurant run out of ketchup for fries and hand me little packets? Even trying to pay the bill and leave is taking forever.
This has always been a great local place to eat for the family... However recently we have noticed the portions are getting smaller and the price is getting bigger. They have also started ( been sold ) on a new rewards program that gets you a free cup of coffee after you spend $75.. Once again you fix something that isn't broken because profits is more important that customer satisfaction. Learn from your old neighbor ( buffalo wild wings ) and go back to you military and student discounts or you will slowly see your business depleat. You location would make for a great coffee shop anyway.
I was nearby and looking for something to eat. I do like rice and beans, and the decor looked good. Once inside, it smelled great, but I'd never had this kind of food. You basically have the server build your plate. I asked them to give me their favorites, and they did a great job. Because I cleaned my plate. I had the pulled pork, white rice, red bean soup, and sweet plantains. Also a raspberry soda. Good price, too. If I'm in the area, I'll definitely eat there again, and I might just have to make an excuse to drop by.
Great food at reasonable prices. They've added a more formal dining area with a full bar. On Fridays they bring in a DJ and offer An intimate night club atmosphere.
Give one star because I need to in order to post. Order shrimp al ajillo (garlic sauce) two sides tostones and pigeon pea rice price $12.xx something plus a passion fruit juice to total $18 . First a little over price two the shrimp was only 6 and they didn’t have a good flavor the rice amogollao and tostones were not season no salt no even a sauce deep the tostones. They can better flavor to food and presentation
