We ate breakfast at the buffet at the Boma restaurant. They had a variety of food options and the food was good. It was a fun environment. The buffet line could get long at times but it actually moved pretty quickly. The resort was beautiful, it was amazing to see the animals walking around the Safari right outside the lobby. The inside was decorated beautifully. The gift shop had a nice selection of Disney items.
Great place to stay. Loved waking up and looking out the window and seeing giraffes and zebras. The restaurants in the lodge had a great selection of dining options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Plenty of fun things to do for all ages including two pools, arcades and organized activities.
We came here to get drinks and watch the animals at about 9pm. The bar was still open but there was no way to observe the animals without taking our drinks with us. Also, our venture landed us eventually at the arcade which still had it's doors open but we're not accepting credits at ~9:30pm! The drinks were good and the bartenders was fairly nice. The interior was very impressive and had many cool artifacts and lots of design. Most of the materials were Stone and wood. There was also a very large fireplace that you could sit around in the lobby.
As expected, very unique experience with a few animals right outside your window. Decorations and atmosphere were amazing, all the way down to the live lobby entertainment. Didn't use the pool area much, looked nice and pretty large pool (two hot tube locations). Transportation to and from the parks was lacking (might have been an of week) took long for buses to arrive and they park really far away from everything. Tracked from the bus to our room just over 1 mile. Then the rooms with a great view, still did not meet my expectations. Hard beds, fridge in level and door didn't quite shut, tub water constantly dripped, bathroom a tad small ect.. (I could go on but if you are going to Disney, you doing have much time for rooms. Enjoyed the stay (truly did enjoy), probably won't come back.
The in-room safe is (maybe) 2 inches deep x 11 inches wide x 20 inches tall (photo). I had to place my wallet on end to get it to fit. My wife's smallest purse would not fit. The safe is physical-key-locked, and if you lose the key, there's a replacement fee. (I'm not sure i understand the logic in having "magic bands" so you don't have to carry your wallet, but you have to drag a safe-key around with you. Why not use electronic key-pad locks instead?)
Upon arrival, nobody greeted us in the carport, so we weren't sure what to do. We parked our car in the parking lot (which is a substantial walk to the lobby), checked in, then tried to figure out how to get our luggage to the room. We spied a luggage cart and bright the car back to the carport to unload. A cast member came out and told us that we couldn't use the carts she that a bellman was required to help us...but she never sent for one. My wife finally found a bellman and they whisked our luggage away... To a closet, even though we were heading to our room. We were told we had to go to our room and call for them to bring our luggage... Which took another 30min!! This Very irritating avoidable situation was my first impression upon arrival.
