On September 5th I checked in to the Fairfield Inn Suites Lake Buena Vista along with my family. We had reviewed the hotel and saw there were good comments/ ratings on this location. The following are a series of events that happened as our nights progressed.
My biggest issue:
Last night before check out:
Next morning maintenance came up to “resolve the issue” after a long discussion of how WE suggested to resolve the issue the hesitant maintenance guy gave in with the solution. (Why work for a job you don’t put effort in). The employee placed a dehumidifier for the room. Luckily we would not be in the room the whole day so the dehumidifier could do its loud job. As soon as it was removed that evening we started to feel and smell the moldy/ humid smell.
Let me start by saying our experience in checking in to this hotel was the start of a horrible stay. Before booking we read that the hotel did not charge for parking. A soon as we checked in we were told that there was a $10 park per night. We understand we may have missed read the hotel reviews. However, in checking-in we were not told there was a deposit. Like all hotels’ policy we had to give a credit card for incidentals only. When I checked my online transactions I saw there was a $60 charge for this current hotel we have stayed in. Please keep in mind that the only thing that would be charged at the end of our stay would be the parking fee. Reasonably we can understand the mentioned situation
As we walked up into the room we noticed the that the temperature rapidly increased. It went to a cool welcoming to a muggy corridor. As we walked into the room we were hit with a humid/ moldy smell. The first night here we could not sleep. We tried calling reception and they have told us that the maintenance guys have left for the night. We had no choice to wait until the morning.
Clean rooms. Nice staff. Pretty basic but that's fine. Nothing negative to say really. Will definitely stay here again in the future.
Let me end this with saying I travel for work and I have experienced many things that have had me develop a thick skin to issues involving hotels. However, this has been the worst experience not only for me but for my family.
2-stars for having the grossest bathtub of a $100+/nt I've ever seen. (Photos attached: The tub needed to be resurfaced awhile ago. The dark spots are actually rust.)
Attached you will find pictures we took. These picture include moisture on the walls / ceiling, and picture of dehumidifier and a small from a large amount of water collected from filtration.
To top it off, the Front Desk staff has a consistent "We don't want to be bothered with you" attitude. Also, DO NOT use the Marriott App for this property for ANYTHING as they'll claim to never get the request. (So if you're here for work, conference, vacation, etc expect to have to call or go down to the desk for everything.)
Had a room with two double beds overlooking parking lot. The decor is a bit dated but otherwise clean. Interestingly the ceiling had popcorn texture. I did see a couple small areas with stains. Bathroom was alight. Need to pay some attention to the tub handle as it needed a bit cleaning. Water temperature was consistent. For the price it was fine.
Rooms were clean, it is close to a number of restaurants and Disney world. The pool area is nice, open till late and has a ping pong and pool table. The staff are friendly and more than willing to help. The free breakfast has a lot of options, including a mickey mouse waffle maker...the kids loved that...however, they start removing the food by 9:30am so you would have to get in early but so long as you in and have your food, there's no rush to finish and leave. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
We started to look into hotels but due to hurricane Irma approaching we had to stick to our stay in the Fairfield Inn. Exclusively we would have booked more nights because we are from south Florida and we would have needed lodging to get us through the weather.
After a long hold on the phone for reception to pick up our phone call we had requested to have dehumidifier installed again because of the stench and feel of what the humid was causing. My daughter started to form some type of allergy to the staying conditions in the room, coughing, hard breathing, headache, etc. You can already put the end to the rest of the evening.
