I've been bowling recreationally on a weekly basis during our lunch break with some co-workers and figured with how often I'm going, I might as well buy my own shoes instead of renting them for $3, which I ended up buying from Lightning Strikes. I was able to find the same shoe online for a couple dollars less, but being able to try it on in the store and supporting a great local company was worth the extra few bucks.
After some more time, I figured I might as well start getting serious and get my own ball. I walked inside of Lightning Strikes inside of Colonial Lanes and decided to check it out and ask some questions. Mike was extremely friendly and helpful and pointed out some of the great deals on used balls. Since we were in the middle of a game, I figured I'd come back on my own after work.
MIke had recommended a used ball that would be a good fit for a beginner like myself. He then took the time to analyze my hands, take measurements and drill the holes. Not only that, he then spent some time with me to ensure that I would be able to properly use it and even showed me some new techniques for making an approach on the lane, and how to properly hold the ball.
You can buy bowling equipment in many different places, but the expertise that Mike and Dave offer makes shopping here a no brainer. They have lots of different price points and will work with you to find exactly what you need. And If you're looking for for one-on-one coaching, the lessons are a great value.
Best Pro shop in Orlando
This is the only pro shop I've ever visited so I don't know how others compare, but Lightning Strikes has definitely set the bar really high.
Mike is awesome! He has helped fit me with bowling balls in a fast, easy and cheap manner. I will definitely be coming back here for all my bowling needs, I suggest you do too!
Lightning strikes is a great pro shop. After being out of the sport for many years due to an injury, they made it easy for me to walk in and get set up again. They knew their products and, more importantly, took the time to understand what I needed. They gave me advice on what to buy, made sure the fit was right before I left, and have easily made adjustments as needed over time.
In my opinion, I feel that I definitely got my money's worth. I'll be going back to get some lessons in the near future.
