HORRIBLE Lawyer. Do not hire her if your case is important or your life is on the line. She drags out the case and alway waive speedy trial. She doesn't inform you on the status of your case. She is impossible to reach and if you get locked up don't even try to call her because all jail calls are blocked "even if your a client." Don't waste your money, your better of with a PD before you take a chance with her.
ISSUES WITH KAGAN:
- she especially did nothing on my criminal case which was initially the more important one. we needed that off the books prior to doing custody for obvious reasons. at first tracey agreed this was critical, but once she had my money she changed her mind and was fine walking into a custody mediation with a domestic violence charge hanging over us (untrue as it was, it was still unresolved). ultimately *I* took care of the criminal case MYSELF and it was totally dismissed with NO conditions or requirements (because my ex is a liar)
this woman talks a very good game, but she's not just a terrible lawyer, she's a terrible human being.Tracey’s a typical fast talking new yorker (no offense to NY’ers, that’s where my family’s from) with lots of slick sales pitches and ZERO follow through.
- because of this, for months on end, I had to monitor both my civil as well as my criminal cases myself and help them move along
Tracey is an amazing PA I was on 5 years paper 3 years community control 2 year probation and violated community control twice they were offering 30 months she continued the case the next time I went to court she made a miracle happen now I'm free and off of everything !!!
I was desperate and was bundles of nerves as my 2 month old son (at the time) was about to be taken away from me. I had just come off another lawyer who had spent most of her time taking my money then telling me how much she agreed with my ex’s attorney. when i told this to Tracey she was visibly frustrated and called the old attorney to move the case over right away. you’ll never be disappointed at how hard Tracey works for you.. until she has your money.
- 2 hours of mediation time allotted and tracey had scheduled something for RIGHT when the mediation was to end (leaving no time to extend it, and not even a buffer to get to her next appointment). ex takes 1.5 hours of our 2 hours uncontested by tracey. we’re so low on time Tracey starts saying “we probably should take whatever they offer” and “this is going to be tough”, etc.. because she had to go
- also - she loudly told me to “SHUT UP RAY!” when i brought up the loop holes while we were signing the document, in front of my ex’s attorney
Tracey was amazing, she was caring and knowledgable. She helped my dad and her presence in court was very well respected. I am glad I found her and would recommend her to anyone needing a great attorney. Thank you Tracey, your humbleness and training are what makes you great.
- ex’s attorney sent a terrible parenting plan over, tracey said we’d not use it and bring our own instead
- she was told i would only accept a 50/50 split. she was confident we would get that. this was the core reason i hired her and i communicated that fact to her
- she didn’t bring an opposing document for us to work with so we were stuck with my ex’s version of a parenting plan and to this day we have massive tension and fights due to all the loop holes
DO NOT HIRE THIS WOMAN..
- on the civil side she did MUCH more damage in my long term relationship with my son, and my ongoing divisive co-parenting relationship with my ex
- mediation day: tracey’s late, paper’s shuffled, a little out of breath and disheveled
- the actual truth: men automatically get a 50/50 in my county unless the other side can prove some reason not to (hard to do). and you can always do another mediation. she’s a LIAR
- She almost never returns your calls or emails - but when you first meet her all she talks about is how communicative she is.
- she all but admitted what a terrible lawyer she was when she agreed to give me my money back for the criminal case
I hired her a few years ago when I was in a desperate situation - my ex girlfriend had me falsely arrested for domestic violence (typical tactic of many women these days, the charges were TOTALLY dropped by the state's attorney without any conditions once they saw it was all bogus) and at the same time filed for custody.
- ex offered a 70/30 split - i rejected it, tracey tried to accept it. mediator came back with a 57/43, to which tracey says something like: “ray, I’ve been doing this a lot of years, and i have NEVER seen a time split this good for a guy and you’ll CERTAINLY NEVER get a judge to give you this good of a split. so you should take it, because if you go to court it’ll be even less than this. besides, mediation time is almost up and when it’s gone it’s gone”
