This ride was very cool. You actually get into a safari vehicle and pull out into the simulated a wild even though it's still a controlled environment. The driver was nice polite knowledgeable. There were plenty of animals to see all within manageable distances. The environments themselves were very well designed and the animals liked them.
This is one of the classic rides at Animal Kingdom.
It's FAR from the best ride at Disney World, but a good ride nonetheless.
Moreover, the designer of the lion habitat were very clever, and from the perspective of the riders aboard the trucks, it looks like the lions can reach their prey animals, and might pounce at any moment, but in reality there's a chasm between them.
How is it possible to have so many animal species in a such huge space! There are more animals in this 'attraction' inside this 'amusement park' than in some Zoos! Incredible to see animals in wild in a ride that in every turn the landscape changes so much. The driver is skilled enough to drive in a safari, moving the van and shaking people (inevitable given the terrain) from side to side and also to speak at almost 2X-speed (and with no pause!) explaining every detail of the scene, every animal that appears near or far, their past living, current habitat, and some curiosities too. Excellent 5 stars!!
The jewel of the animal kingdom park, this Safari ride is sure to please. My family has done it twice, 2015 & 2017, and both times we saw at least one animal in each habitat, most of the time multiple animals, sometimes even babies. There's nothing worse than visiting an animal habitat at a zoo, or drive through safari where you're told the animals are there, but all you get to see is empty habitat. This has not happened to us here.
But I read that after the recent alligator attack, due to alligator/crocodile concerns, they stopped doing that part, putting the scare level to pretty much 1/10 due to bumping around mildly.
It was the 1st AK ride I went on, with my class on a Middle School field trip.
Much of it involved touring around and looking at animals, in an environment that represents Kilimanjaro, hence its name.
Toward the end, the driver even provided some advice about other park attractions that turned out to be very helpful.
My children loved this. Ages 4 and 5. Nonstop question and answer about all of the cool animals!
The scare level was 3/10 because there's a part where you go through a "loose" bridge, and you feel like you're gonna fall into a crocodile lake.
