This was In and out less than 30 mins. There were around 40 people already when we got in.
There was still a fair wait time, but overall, I survived. Anyone giving fewer stars because they had to wait... What do you expect? Everyone is there for different reasons and some tasks take longer than others, especially when people aren't prepared. Make sure you have all the forms filled out ahead of time. Don't be THAT person. Make sure you have all your correct documents too.
The staff was super friendly! I was greeted when I got to the door by the guard. He smiled, made sure I had the right forms and directed me to the sign in kiosk. Once my number was called, the representative I had was equally as friendly. He was able to process everything within minutes! He handed me a receipt confirmation of my name change and I had to ask him "that's it? I'm done?" He just laughed and assured me everything was all set up.
Guard was firm yet professional and guided us to get form filled, token generated and wait in a specific area for new applicants. A TV screen and PA system was calling out numbers and people were reaching given windows.
Person on other side of window was focused on the job with no non sense talk. Reviewed my docs, entered in his system, showed the inputs to me to verify, which reflected he cared what is being entered in the system. At the end he gave me receipt print out and explained it. Very professional.
It says everywhere that i can request a card online but when i try doing that, i says call the office.
It seems the people saying they have problems with the staff may just be irritable from having to wait and then, if they don't hear what they want from the employee, they get aggravated, as if the staff is supposed to wave some magic wand and give them what they want. Remember, the employees are people too! Try being polite and you're likely to get better explanations, rather than being a jerk to the staff and just getting a simple "no." I wouldn't want to help out some rude customer either. If you're nice to me, I'd be more prone to say "hey, I've seen this happen before and if you do x, y, and z, it'll process quicker" or whatever. Just something to think about y'all.
I am very disappointed in this office! I had to go in to the office on 8/14/17 and I was there for 5 hours.... my number was called the rep that I was called to had a bad attitude, she told me I had the wrong forms went and got my the correct forms I filled them out and 3 weeks latter I called to check on the status of my application and she never even took the time out to put my claim into the system! I am very upset cause I'm am a single mom with a disable daughter and I only lost my income for her due to the fact that my mother passed with in the same week ssi sent a re-evaluation out for me to complete, I slipped my mind to even check my mail! I don't understand WHY have a rep working in a government office and she's not doing her part? Yes it was my fault losing her income but I did my part and took off of work to only sit in a office and it was for no reason at all! 9 times out of 10 nothing will be done about my situation but I still felt the need to write a review!!!!!!!
I waited for a little over an hour. Not the end of the world. I came prepared to wait longer. They have an express lane that people would seat shuffle, which probably would have had me in and out quicker, but I'm 8½ months pregnant so the idea of getting up to switch to the next seat every few minutes didn't appeal to me. This is why I can't quite give them 5 stars. If someone with a physical ailment, disability or hindrance can't shuffle to the next seat, you can't really use the express lane. They need a better system in place for that. Maybe a ticket system for the express lane? Like taking a number at the deli.
I came here on a Wednesday after noon, at the recommendation of a very chipper phone representative, who said some people get confused because the benefits office is closed then, but not the card office. Sweet!
No trouble, all smooth. Thanks SSN office for mature people and process deployed there.
You will be waiting but the turnover is pretty fast. The parking lot fills up quickly but you can park on the grass next to the sidewalk.
Just carry all required docs in original, Fill the form correctly.
