A great small little restaurant located in the great ceremonial house inside the Polynesian Resort. We recently had breakfast here on our last trip and was not disappointed. I had scrambled eggs with bacon, potatoes and a biscuit. I tried the pancakes and they were excellent too. The Hawaiian coffee was the best thing I had the whole time. Tasty and went down like water... I had 2 cups. Didn't try lunch or dinner though. Make a reservation.
Food was ok. Our server "Bob". Was not what I, as a Disney world veteran, have come to expect. Rude, not helpful, basically threw our bill at us. He was lucky to get a tip at all. If this is what I have to expect from Kona I won't eat there again. The only thing that kept me from talking to his manager right then was my wife. If these are actually read by Disney this server needs to find a new job. We visited on 26 October 2017 at 1:30 pm
Pretty disappointed. The bread and butter were top-notch, but it quickly went downhill from there. Didn't get drinks until almost 45 mins in (and second round was forgotten until just before dessert, so I had nothing with dinner). Steak was mid-level wedding at best. My kids were practically done their fries before the server checked on us and we were able to ask for ketchup. My wife's GF steak had to be re-fired because they weren't sure if the glaze had gluten, so she got to watch us eat for a while. Not that I was looking for freebies, but shocked nothing was comped, especially our forgotten round of drinks. Not what I expected from reviews I had read and definitely not worth the price, dining plan or not. Will never be back here.
We had a lovely time at this restaurant - both breakfast and a dinner. Our server, Maureen, was the best! A professional for sure. We all enjoyed our meals and the service and the environment - top notch!
Had breakfast at Kona Cafe this morning with my family. While the Polynesian Resort is beautiful, there is nothing special about Kona. Also the breakfast food was nothing special. The Tonga Toast seemed stale and excessively sweet. The "Mickey shaped pancakes" for the kids were really just three regular pancakes arranged sort of like a Mickey face. Items weren't presented in any interesting way, just plainly on a plate. The famous coffee was nothing special. My wife's eggs and potatoes were over-cooked and flavorless. I don't mind paying for excellent food and ambiance but this was neither. It was an expensive, poor meal. The breakfast we enjoyed the day prior at Boma was far superior (fantastic, actually) and the service and ambiance were also top-notch. Don't waste your money at Kona.
